Informal Resolution Period
Also known as Cooling-off period
A mandatory waiting window between notice and the right to file.
The interval following pre-arbitration notice during which the parties are expected to confer, and during which filing is contractually barred. Empirical work on post-2020 clause redrafting finds that most large consumer-facing companies now impose some form of pre-arbitration process, and that the cumulative delay these steps introduce is one of the principal claim-suppressing effects of the redrafting wave.
