Superiority
The requirement that a class action be the superior method of adjudication.
Courts weigh class members' interest in individual control, the extent of existing litigation, the desirability of concentrating claims in one forum, and manageability. Where individual claims are of negative value, superiority is nearly automatic — the alternative is no adjudication at all.
